This oversized pillow is composed almost entirely of a panel of vintage kimono fabric with a thin frame and backing of light sage silk dupioni. The background of the center panel is a slightly darker sage green with rust-colored chrysanthemums, blue leaves and stars radiating across the surface. The panel has been heavily hand-stitched with metallic rust thread along the stars, and beaded at the center of most of the stars with deep rust colored beads. This magnificent stocking is truly one of the finest that I have made. It is similar to bridal stockings I have made from vintage wedding dresses and trim. The color scheme is predominately white, cream and pale pink. The fabrics are silks, satins, moirιs, and brocades, enhanced by vintage buttons, laces, beads, charms, crystals, bits of jewelry, and ribbon embroidery. The central motif featuring a golden hand holding a bouquet of ribbon roses is stunning as is the lower panel of silver spider web complete with cupids and golden bee. This unique stocking took over thirty hours to complete and contains innumerable motifs, ribbons, and embellishments. It is lined in white satin and backed with white moirι fabric. It is completed with a bow made of tiny white and pink satin ribbon overlaid with a pink organza bow and finished with a heart-shaped brooch made of silver and pink rhinestones. This would be a wonderful gift for a bride. Approximately 20 long by 10 wide. |
